Not Gonna Waste My Shot



Happy New Year!!! You fucks. 


I recently finished the Hamilton book so I can have a better understanding for the musical Dre, Cher and I will be experiencing in late February. All I can say about Hamilton and the other founding founders is holy fuck sticks these bitches didn’t play. When they weren’t kicking the shit out of the Brits, starting a government from scratch and writing hundreds of papers to make sense and defend what they created. All the while avoiding getting small pox, dysentery and malaria. When it was finally time to chill, they hammered booze, had the sex with their wives, or woman of little virtue, or if all else failed an occasional guy. “Allegedly ”


Party fucking animals!!! 


I digress…. 


What I took mostly from the book is what my blog title says. Go ahead and look back at it, I’ll wait. 


This is how I suggest we take on 2024. Not wasting our collective shot. No, you don’t have to drink a whole 750ml of vodka or have lots  of promiscuous sex or even start a fight with a red coat. Seriously, who does any of that? 


What I mean is:


Be in the moment. 


By that I mean:


Truly listen to what people you care about are saying, feeling and  doing. 


Encourage your peers and youth, “we shouldn’t be blocking them, we should be guiding them” Superbad 2007.


We all have goals, let’s keep each other accountable. 


Take a least 10 minutes of each day just for yourself. Every fucking day. Meditate, reflect or whatever’s. It’s your time. Take more if you can.  Lay or stand barefoot in some grass. Grounding is the shit. 



Along that line, be easy on yourself. We’re all our own worse critics. 



Get plenty of rest and sleep and drink more water.

How about a challenge for 2024? Pick a day of the week and shut your phone off? TV too. No facebook, instagram, texting. Imagine the possibilities. 


Finally, Tell people you love them.

VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR. THE IPHONE KILLED THE REST OF US!!!

Where were you in 1981? I know a couple of my readers were still somewhere inside their future mom’s body. I think, I don’t know. I ain’t no scientist. I do know JB was a rambunctious ten year old building forts, shooting BB guns and playing smear the queer. MAYBE LONG MAYBE GONE!!!

  I think the title says it all folks. May has finally come to an end. By now Floridians should be prepped for hurricane season and the start of feeling that we are living on the surface of the sun. Avid fishing folks should have their boats and gear all tuned up for the American Red Snapper season. Hell, it even appears our friend the daily downpours from nowhere may be back.   And in Bennett’s world it’s the start of the yearly migration of the female folks to the great white north for the summer. That’s right after a two year hiatus, Sandstram is getting to FINALLY get back to her living her best life on the lake in Vermont. Meanwhile, Bryce will be running shit at Camp “Hakuna Matata” a third of mile up the lake. More than likely this we be the last summer Bryce will be shaping young women’s lives at camp since internships and life will more than likely get in the way.
